Word on the Street (WOTS) – Summing Up

Suzan at the BC Lower Mainland chapter's demo table

Even with the rain, lots of people attended the annual Word on the Street event on Sunday, September 25.

Both CBBAG tables (BC Islands and BC Lower Mainland) drew visitors’ attention.

We met members of BC Islands CBBAG chapter (Frances and Keith) as well as the president of the Alcuin Society (Howard). Lovely folks! We look forward to future collaborations.

Some of the visitors to our table included professional fine bookbinders. It was wonderful to meet Adele and Jen and chat with them about their businesses.

Throughout the day there were ongoing displays and demonstrations at the BC Lower Mainland chapter’s table, featuring:

Lindsay: alternative politics

  • Gina, mini-tunnel books
  • Suzan, books from one sheet of paper
  • Lindsay, traditional books:
    alternative politics
  • Reg Lissel, handmade paper
  • Kassandra, simple book structures
  • Jan, more book structures

Lots of children and their parents stopped by, proving to be enthusiastic up-and-coming bookbinders and book artists.

Presenters and participants alike had a lot of fun, and it was a great opportunity to spread the word about our new chapter.

If you have any comments about the day, we’d love to hear them.
